Marissa’s Bunny
Marissa’s Bunny
Once again, I find myself in a position that I have to apologize to you, Marissa’s fans and followers. Circumstances have conspired for me to not always be that happy about things and life in general when it’s time for post writing, so rather than bog down the blog in a morass of heavy emotional content day in and day out, I just didn’t post.
I’ll try harder. Both on the happiness front, and on the more frequent posting.
Anyway, Tuesday therapy came and went- Marissa did okay after higher than normal overnight drop activity. As a Dad, I’d like to see actual progress week to week, but that isn’t always the case. Tuesday was party all night for Marissa, so I think that had a large bearing on her mood when the therapist arrived. The extra drop seizures she had overnight left as quickly as they came over the course of the day, so I really don’t know what the deal with that is. I do know that IS kids can have a disruption in seizure frequency when dealing with teething, colds or any other in a large range of mundane illnesses, so I’m not thinking too much about it yet.
In a slight detour towards Emoland, without so much as a glance in the direction, the therapy this week started me thinking about the road we’re on, and that it seems likely that we’re going to be dealing with developmental delays for years, and that’s best case. Sure, I’d like to think the IS will resolve itself into something more mundane as she gets older, but I’m starting to come to the realization that our family life will be replete with doctor’s appointments, wheelchairs, and assistive devices for Marissa over the rest of our lives. This is all very expensive, of course.
I’ve already told most of the family this. Starting today, all incoming monies for Marissa from any source, I’ll match for long-term savings purposes to guarantee long term care. No limit. If this means I have to eat soup and ramen, and sell property that I hold dear, computers, games, clothes, whatever, then that’s how it’s going to be. She needs it, and will continue to need it more than I do. Bunny purchases don’t count toward this total, as I make no money on the distribution of same. The first matched transactions from the internet are the $36 I received from Canada from Michal and one other contributor as a result of the bungie.net traffic.
The wife calls this general behavior by me as being a “self sacrificing bastard”, playfully of course. So be it. Can you think of anybody more deserving?
What’s that? You don’t know about the Bungie linkage? Here it is! All pictures were taken at Bungie Studios in Washington state. You know, the Halo developers?

Left to right: Milton Cadogan, Shi Kai Wang, Robert McLees, Adrian Perez, the Master Chief, Lorraine McLees, Andrew Davis, and a player to be named later (seriously, who are you? Let me know, and I’ll fix this)

Maybe if you squint into the studio past Mr. McLees above, you can glean some tidbit about ODST.

Honestly, I didn’t even think these guys owned ties. Thanks Bungie people! Like I have for the last 15 years, I’m looking forward to the next game...
This picture is as much for Mom as it is for you- this is how Marissa spends most of her days lately.
Sitting on the sofa, with support.
