Marissa’s Bunny
Marissa’s Bunny
Looking at the calendar and sundry to-do lists, I think the last quiet day of 2008 was yesterday. Today, we’re running all over hell and gone doing Marissa and holiday related errands before the ice descends on us later tonight. Combine afternoon errands with morning Marissa physical therapy, and I’m not sure what the day will hold behavior-wise. The rest of the week is full of doctors and copays, so that seals that.
The Wife and Marissa had a touch of the creeping crud over the weekend- Marissa’s was gone by Sunday, the Wife’s seemingly departed yesterday night, but this funk is a sneaky funk. It took a bit longer for me to get it, but I’ve got it full-on today and yesterday. I thought I was better this morning, but the longer I’m awake, the worse it seems to be getting. I’m sitting here hacking away at the keys, bathrobe on over a sweatshirt, hot beverage by my side just trying to keep warm in a 68 degree house. It was worse yesterday, but at least the ambient temperature outside at 70F was springesque- that took the edge off it. No joy on co-operative weather today- rain all day, ice tonight, cold temperatures all around.
Marissa Update
Marissa had another one of those interesting mornings after a fairly routine night. We tried to lay down as a family at 7PM, just to purge the remnants of the plague we’ve got- Marissa wasn’t having it. I took it for the team and brought her back out to the living room for a few hours, where she sat with me while I straightened out her menagerie of stuffed animals some and later played the freshly re-downloaded and expanded Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride on xBox Live. At 10, she was ready to conk out, so we migrated back. She fussed for a few minutes, but blissfully fell back asleep. I wasn’t far behind
She woke at 3AM, ready to go. I wish that I had her ability for a fully restorative sleep in such a short time. The wife woke and played with her until the alarm went off, as it was pretty apparent that this wasn’t a soothe and go back to sleep wakeup. I don’t like the just pre-medicine time wakeups, she’s more prone to seizures as the medicine dose wears off. She surprised us this morning, very little jerky activity, other than one very brief absence seizure, which still freaked out the Wife. I don’t think that we’re ever going to get used to the absence seizures, no matter how short or infrequent. Certainly any morning seizure activity is not as good as zero seizure activity, but much better than we normally get when she wakes at 3AM to party.
Fairfax Update
The same bunny that hit the Wipeout set took a detour to Salvang, California and Nojoqui Falls for some R+R.

More sitting. Of note, the green sweatsuit Nana purchased for Marissa and the left arm down propping her up.
Crazy hair is a regular thing.
